Katy Accurso is a fashion and lifestyle blogger from Chicago. Her blog, "Out & About" highlights her incredible fashion sense and follows her as she navigates life in Chicago. Her Instagram feed is already inspiring our fall wardrobe! A few weeks ago, Katy got engaged to the sweetest guy. We will be following closely as she posts her wedding plans! Her question to us is, 'How can I get my skin ready for my upcoming wedding?'
There are a few basics that every bride-to-be should use:
- Antioxidant serum: Antioxidant serums block free radical damage (preventing photoaging) and improve the texture and tone of your skin. One of our favorites, especially for someone that hasn't used an antioxidant serum before, is Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Day Serum. Apply it every morning after cleansing; sunscreen and makeup go right on top!
- A daily sunscreen is imperative, in order to avoid the development of unwanted pigmentation (like melasma or sun spots) before the wedding. We love everything La Roche Posay, but especially their Anthelios line of sunscreens. They are super lightweight and provide great coverage, without making your skin feel sticky or tacky.
- Latisse is a fantastic health/beauty tool. Its actually a glaucoma medication (more on that in a future post…) that can be applied to the lash line to keep your eyelashes in the growth cycle for longer. The result is thicker, longer lashes – making your eyes pop in wedding photos! We recommend starting Latisse at least 2-3 months before your wedding.
- A great spray tan – something that looks natural (not orange!) We never recommend a real tan, but we do understand that white dresses make pasty skin look pretty washed out in photos. We are all in favor of a spray tan a week before the wedding (and recommend a trial run a month or two before that!)
